Lost Boys

Popspotting #126: “Fun at the Amusement Park” (Sept. 12, 2011)

Lost BoysWe might not be able to send you home with a Giant Ass Panda, but we hope today’s double feature helps grow your appreciation for a couple of great films set in or near classic amusement parks.

First up, “The Lost Boys,” a classic teen horror comedy film by Joel Schumacher starring starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, and Alex “Ted” Winter.

Then it’s over to “Adventureland,” an often overlooked and understated gem directed by Greg Mottola, and starring film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Margarita Levieva, Ryan Reynolds, Martin Starr, Bill Hader, and Kristen Wiig.

Though released in 2009, “Adventureland” was set in 1987, the same year “The Lost Boys” came out.

Sure, “Zombieland” was an obvious pairing with “Adventureland,” but let’s just say we’re saving that one for a future zombie double feature. If that’s not your style, then speak up and share your idea for a better theme!

Fred Firestine

Popspotting #124: “Stargate Pains” (Sept. 8, 2011)

Fred FirestineThis week, joining us all the way from Long Island, New York, is long-time listener Fred Firestine. This Canadian-born husband, dad, and technology professional loves sci fi, Weird Al, and P90X.

Formerly @ffluvssg1 on Twitter, you can now find him at @ffirestine. He also blogs now and then about his health and fitness journey.

For PopTalk & Trivia Thursday, he shares his deep and long-standing love for “Stargate,” the delightfully geeky “IT Crowd,” and the Hamptons-based USA series “Royal Pains.” He then takes on our trivia challenge, taking on Jen’s music and movie prowess.

Popspotting #123: “Around the Big Island” (Sept. 7, 2011)

We’re fortunate to call Hawaii our home. And as residents of a place that represents a great getaway for much of the world, we’re often asked for advice on places to go and things to see in the Aloha State. And as we start planning for our own regular “getaway” to the Big Island, we figured we’d take you along for the ride.

For today’s podcast, we start in the cool, lush rainforest neighborhood of Volcano Village. لعبة طاولة 31 على الانترنت After taking you through Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, we make our way down to Hilo Town, then head north along the Hamakua Coast. نادي ليفربول الإنجليزي Finally it’s up through Waimea, skipping Kona to head north to Hawi on the northern end of the island.

If you want to see photos from our last trip, including several spots we mention on our show, check out our gallery on Flickr.

As hard as it was, we didn’t spend any time in Hilo for today’s audio tour. We could easily dedicate a separate episode (or two) to our favorite “city by the bay.” And we might, provided you enjoyed taking this trip with us! سعر اشتراك يورو 2022

Sons of Anarchy

In today’s podcast, we introduce the show, run through our favorite characters, and finally, take a quick look back on the last three seasons. Suffice it to say, we can’t wait to rejoin the club tonight.

“The Debt” was a film festival hit last year, and was scheduled for a December 2010 release. But studio shenanigans delayed its debut until last week. Popspotting #120: “Bogart, Dexter & Dude” (Sept. 2, 2011)

The Big LebowskiWe start off Feedback Friday with movie talk: a classic noir suggestion (Bogart & Bacall), a Lebowski virgin (spoiler alert: he liked it), and a crazy, stupid review (Emma Stone rocks). Then it’s on to your favorite books, and a shared love of a serial killer.

We can’t say it enough: we’re powered primarily by your comments here, on Facebook, Twitter, via e-mail and voicemail. Whether you’re recommending something, responding to something, or just checking in, we love it.
